Oak Class have had a fantastic time today at Abingdon School thinking about evolution. We began our day by putting on our lab coats and then looking at onion skins under a microscope. We then swabbed our cheeks and looked at out own cells clearly seeing the nucleus of the cell as well as the cytoplasm and the cell walls. After that, we investigated DNA and used strawberries that had been mashed up to see real DNA. We even managed to pick it up with our equipment. Next, we thought about our own genetics and made a genetic code of our own. After lunch, we then looked at the bones of different animals and investigated different mammals thinking about the similarities and differences. Altogether a fantastic day!
