Welcome to the Forest School section!
At Buckland CoE primary school, we are convinced that spending time outside contributes to the holistic development of the children.
During their Forest School sessions, the activities we offer help the children to develop their fine and gross motor skills,
problem solving abilities, socialisation, communication, self-esteem, self-confidence and much more!
The school values “wise, responsible and kind” are also embedded in the sessions.
Our Forest School provision is still fairly young as it started in February 2022 and
our level 3 Forest School Leader obtained her qualification in February 2023.
Since then, the aim has been to offer weekly sessions to Nursery and Reception (in turns) and Y1 children.
For older children, we create Forest School experiences outside the school, as often as possible.
We are very lucky and grateful to have regular parent helpers to support Forest School;
their contribution means a lot to us.
Under our supervision, at Forest School the children may have the opportunity to:
- cook on the fire
- safely use tools (bow saw, potato peeler, knife, hand drill…)
- observe the birds
- plant seeds
- experiment with mud and water
- build shelters
- take part in listening games
- take part in team building games
- enjoy some relaxing time in the hammock
- climb the trees
- enjoy the tyre swing
- observe and learn about bugs...
