Last night we had a great time dressing up Miss Thurston as a Roman soldier and then training to be a Roman soldier. Today we had an early rise, with some children waking up at 5.30! We have had a fun but busy day. This morning we started the day by preparing some Roman food including sweet and savoury bread, sausages, a vegetable soup (pottage) and some fruit sweets. The children then learned how to march like Roman soldier and formed some battle formations. We enjoyed a lovely lunch of sandwiches, apples, yogurts and flapjack. This afternoon we have made Roman Jewellery, weaved some woollen patterns, used Latin to write our Roman names and made Roman lamps. We are now enjoying a dinner of Sausage, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with peas and sweetcorn before heading off to create some Mosaics.
