Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

Today we are going to do our Big Read and enjoy different book related activities.

Little Acorns- Please choose 1 of the activities listed below:

Favourite Stories- Please enjoy sharing a favourite story. You might like to then make puppets of the characters in the story and use them to re-tell the story to your family.

Once Upon A Picture-  With the help of your parents or older siblings, talk about the picture below 'Morning Surprise' and discuss.

Imagine that you have just walked into the kitchen to find this....

You can only ask 3 questions to the octopus. What would you ask and why?

You decide to let the octopus stay here, but the next morning you come into your kitchen to find it joined by another creature. What might it be?

How did the octopus get here?

Why is it wearing a hat?

Is it speaking your language? Do you understand what it’s saying?

You could even make a story map or write how the octopus came to be here and what happens next?

Big Acorns- Please choose one of Little Acorn's activities and also complete 1 of the activities below:

  • Complete a Phonics Play activity using your phonic skills to read phase 2 HFW words or phase 3 Tricky Words.

  • Read an Oxford Owl story online (It is free to use but your adult will need to sign up).

  • I would recommend reading the Read Write Inc scheme books below, which focus on specific sounds that we have been learning this week.
