Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

Today's Maths activity is for both Big and Little Acorns. We are all going to be exploring 2D (flat) and 3D (fat) shapes.

I challenge you to use 2D and 3D shapes to make a repeated pattern, a picture or build a model.

You could:

  • Cut, arrange and stick 2D shapes onto a piece of card to make a picture or repeated pattern.

  • Stack and build with wooden bricks to make a model.

  • Print with shapes in paint to make a picture or repeated pattern.

  • Arrange shapes on a tray to make a picture or repeated pattern.

While making your picture or pattern think about:

  • Which shapes you are using and what are they called?

  • Are 2D (flat) or 3D (fat) shapes best to use?

  • What can you tell your adult about the shapes you are using?
