Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

In the story 'The Jolly Postman', Goldilocks is sent some money in a card. This week we are all going to be learning about money.

Little Acorns- Explore some real coins, looking at the different colours, shapes and patterns on the coins. Then make some coin rubbings by placing each coin under paper and using coloured pencils or wax crayons to create a rubbing.

Big Acorns-  First please complete Little Acorns coin rubbing activity. Then please group and sort the coins in different ways. You might like to group the coins by:

  • colour

  • size

  • shape

Think about the following questions:

  • What is the same/ different between each coin?

  • What pictures and patterns do you notice on the coins?

  • What do we use money for?

  • What other ways can we pay for things?
