Little Acorns- Today we are going to carry on comparing using the words: 'more', 'less' and the 'same'. We are also going to be meeting Mr Crocodile (below) who is very hungry and loves to eat. Remember that he always likes to eat the group that has 'more'.
Choose from one of the activities below to find 'more' to feed to Mr Crocodile:
Play 'Grab Hands' from yesterday's maths activity. Each time you compare how many objects you have in each hand, feed Mr Crocodile the amount that has 'more'.
Look at the more/ less picture cards below. Decide which group has 'more' and feed this group to Mr Crocodile.
Remember to count each group carefully to check if you were right.
Big Acorns- Today we are going to be finding half of an amount. You could use sweets, counters, pieces of fruit or pasta. To find half we have to remember the phrase '1 for you and 1 for me'.
Follow the link below to see a video of Miss Hatton finding half of an amount.
You can use the halving mat below to help half the amount of objects or you could use 2 different bowls/ plates. Remember if you are finding half of an amount then it must always be fair!
