This week we are going to start learning about each of the numbers, just like Big Acorns do.
Below are links to activities related to each of the numbers 1-9.
If your child is already confident with some of these numbers please choose the numbers that they are less confident with.
When we count, we should say numbers in the same order each time. We can play 'Naughty Numbers' to help us to remember the order that we count in. You can use numerals , numicon number shapes or groups of counters to represent each number.
Parents, please use the numbers that your child is confident with e.g. 1-3, 1-5, 1-10, 1-12, 1-15, 1-20.
How to play:
Cut up the numicon shapes or number line below.
Carefully put the number shapes or numbers in order, starting with the smallest number first. You can work out which number comes next by counting up.
Person A closes their eyes while Person B removes a number shape or number from the number line.
Person A then opens their eyes and works carefully to work out which number is missing.
Talk about: How do you know that number is missing? What number would you expect to find before/ after this number?
