Little Acorns- Today we are going to be hearing the first sound in words so you will need your listening ears again.
Parents please help your child to work through the powerpoint sorting and grouping objects that begin with the same sound. We will be focussing on sounds s,a,t,p,i and n.
If you can't access the powerpoint then you could use real objects from around the house beginning with the sounds s,a,t,p,i,n and grouping them. E.g. sock, sunglasses, seed/ pig, pen, peg.
Big Acorns- We have been learning lots of new digraphs and trigraphs and we need to make sure that we know them really really well.
Today I would like you to practice recognising and remembering all of these digraphs and trigraphs: ll, ss, zz, ff, ck, sh, ch, th, ng, nk, ay, ee, igh, ow, oo, ar, or, air.
First please follow the link below and do some speed sounds with me.
Then you can choose to do any of the activities below:
Write each of the digraphs/ trigraphs carefully on a post it and hide them around the house or garden. Be a detective, saying each sound that you find.
Write the digraphs/ trigraphs carefully in chalk on the floor (or on pieces of paper). Ask your adult to say a sound and then you have to find it, say the sound carefully and then jump on it.
Write the digraphs/ trigraphs carefully on a whiteboard. Ask your adult to say a sound and then you have to find it, say it and rub it out.
Write the digraphs/ trigraphs carefully on pieces of card and stick them on the wall/ floor outside. Ask your adult to say a word and then you have to find and splat the word with a fly swatter or shoot it with a water pistol.
Write the digraphs/ trigraphs on ball pit balls. Put them in the bath and go 'fishing' saying each letter sound that you catch.
