Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

Thursday is usually when we do our Big Read in Acorns and enjoy different book related activities.

Little Acorns- Please choose 1 of the activities listed below:

  • Play 'Guess the story'- Ask your adult or older sibling to read a clue from  below. Guess the story and then you could read the story if you have the book at home. Some of the clues have come from your friends too!

Guess the story clues:

I’m a grey animal who meows! (Tabby McTat)

A girl called Sophie and her mummy have a surprise guest who is orange and furry with long teeth...(The Tiger who Came to Tea)

A worm and being 'strong'! (Superworm)
A nut and a log pile house (The Gruffalo)
  • Share the story 'Each Peach Pear Plum' which is written by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. They are the same authors that wrote the story 'The Jolly Postman'.

What is the same/ different about the 2 stories?

Which story do you prefer and why?

Big Acorns- Please choose one of Little Acorn's activities and also complete the activity below.

Please read an Oxford Owl story online (It is free to use but your adult will need to sign up). I would recommend reading the Read Write Inc scheme books below, which focus on specific sounds that we have been learning.
