Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

As we have a shorter week this week we are going to be doing our Big Read activities today instead of Thursday.

Little Acorns- Please choose 1 of the activities listed below:

  • Once Upon A Picture-  With the help of your parents or older siblings, talk about the picture 'Something Familiar' below and discuss.

  • Alan Ahlberg was one of the authors who wrote 'The Jolly Postman' but he has also written lots of other books. Choose at least 1 book written by Alan Ahlberg to enjoy today. Below are a couple of links to the stories and pictures of some of the other books that he has written.

Once Upon a Picture- Something Familiar

Why is the black cat the only cat looking at the witch?

Why did the witch come here? Was she just passing or did she come to the shop for a reason?

What is the ‘something familiar’? Why?

Do the witch and the cat already know each other?

What do you think is going to happen?

You could then make up your own story as to what might happen next. You could draw this as a picture or in a storymap.
