Dear Parents and Carers,
Last term, our amazing Acorns started Forest School. I am aware that, so far, the only evidence you may have seen has been the very muddy clothes coming home each week in a plastic bag! I am therefore thrilled to now be able to share some Forest School photos with you.
We have been extremely busy exploring the mud, climbing trees and building a fantastic den. This den project, which started during one of last term’s coldest sessions, is cherished by Big Acorns, Little Acorns and Year 1. Every week, the children spend time perfecting it, making improvements and adding new ideas. The children have been fantastic at sharing bowls, spades and natural resources, and the Big Acorns have begun learning how to walk safely around the fire area.
Some of the children have enjoyed searching for bugs, while others have been busy making potions. With Big Acorns, we read the story “Stanley’s Stick”, and the children had the opportunity to use their imagination to create their own special sticks. There was only one rule: the sticks must stay at Forest School, and we can use them again when we return to the allotment.
A very special thank you to Charlotte for being our amazing Forest School helper, and a huge thank you to you too for your continued support — always smiling at us, even when we handed over a bag full of muddy clothes! we truly appreciate it.
