Sycamore Class had an unforgettable Viking Workshop and enjoyed a fantastic day immersed in the world of the Vikings. Throughout the day, the children took part in a wide range of exciting, hands-on activities that brought their history learning to life.
The day began with an engaging introduction to the Viking Age, helping the children understand how the Vikings lived as both settlers and invaders in Britain. They then had the opportunity to handle replica artefacts and explore objects from Viking times, as well as volunteer to act out dramatic Viking stories.
Before lunch, the children enjoyed playing traditional Viking board games, including Fox and Geese, and took part in interactive quizzes to test their growing knowledge.
In the afternoon, the class got a close-up look at Viking equipment, including shields, helmets and swords. After learning battle formations and practising their Viking skills, the children worked together as a fearsome Viking army and even carried out a raid to capture a few "prisoners"......from Oak Class!
We finished the day with a question-and-answer session with Jack, who led the workshop brilliantly.
A huge thank you to all parents and carers for the incredible effort put into the Viking costumes. The children looked fantastic and certainly looked the part as they marched around school as a formidable Viking force!
