Pupils in Years 3 and 4 are taught together in Sycamore for two years, where they consolidate, refine and build upon their previously learnt skills – applying their knowledge in new and widening contexts. Children who have not yet developed full independence are given targeted support to help them secure the essential skills they need.

Learning continues to be organised through termly themes that link different areas of the curriculum in meaningful and purposeful ways. Older pupils are encouraged to support younger children in both their learning and play, acting as positive role models. Activities are carefully scaffolded to meet a wide range of abilities and pupils are gradually supported to take increasing responsibility for their own learning.
