Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

Over the past two sessions, our fantastic Y1 have been really lucky. We’ve had the opportunity to observe the life cycle of a frog.

During the first week, we saw the frogspawn at the egg stage. By the following week, most of them were still in their eggs, but their shapes had changed — they had developed tails, and we even saw them learning to swim. It was truly precious to witness nature in action, and we all loved it!

To top it off, since the sun was shining, some frogs and even one toad were enjoying a sunbath in the pond. Quiet voices and calm attitudes were essential to avoid scaring them away.

Hopefully, next time we’ll see our tadpoles becoming froglets!

Please note that there will be no Forest School next week as the whole school will be going to church for the prayer walk.

Have a lovely weekend!

On Thursday, the main activity was making potions inspired by the book the children read in class, George and the Marvellous Medicine. The blue water was a big hit. We then added some red food colouring and mixed the colours, which was really fun.

I wanted to thank you, as the potion kit you’ll see in the picture was purchased with your generous contribution at the Forest School stand at the summer fete last year. With your kind donation, we also bought a slackline, which we will be using for the first time soon.

Have a lovely weekend!

Dear Beech class Parents,

It is such a pleasure to be back at Forest School with your little ones. We’ve really enjoyed our first few Forest School sessions. The children remembered all the routines and rules so quickly!

As you are aware, the children have particularly enjoyed mud in all its forms: hot chocolate, mud cakes, jumping in the mud, sliding, and rolling in the mud. I’ve read somewhere that mud is really good for the skin, so I can tell that Year 1 will have perfect skin by the end of the school year!

I also wanted to express my gratitude for your patience when the Forest School clothes come back full of mud. The Forest School team truly appreciates it.

We’ve been also focusing on the birds that live in our garden during the winter and how we can help them. The children have made bird feeders, and next week, they will have the opportunity to observe them with binoculars—and maybe even name a few!

If you have given authorisation for the pictures, you will find some below of the children at Forest School.

Thanks again for your support!

Best regards,

Mrs. Lefebvre

Happy New Year! Carotte can't wait to welcome Y1 back to the allotment. She has started the countdown! A big thank you to Jo for volunteering to be our Forest School helper.
