Children move across school to begin their Key Stage 2 experience. Year 3 and 4 children spend two years together in Sycamore. They consolidate, refine and build on previously learnt skills and begin to use their knowledge across new contexts. Those children who have not reached a stage of independence are supported in order to master the basic skills they need.
Again learning is planned in termly themes which seek to bring together areas of the curriculum in purposeful contexts. Older children are encouraged to support the younger in their work and play and to act as role models. Work is planned to differentiate for the range of attainment levels and children are shown how to take increasing levels of responsibility for their learning.
