Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

During our first week back, we explored a wonderful book called 'The Planet in a Pickle Jar,' written by Martin Stanev. It is a book about not judging people based on their appearances and how families can work together to help save the planet. We talked about happy memories and which ones we would keep safely in a jar; following this, we thought about things we think are important and need to be looked after and preserved. The children had lots of fantastic ideas – we discussed the environment; animals; family; dreams; love – the list goes on. After this, we went outside and found objects we would like to put in our pickle jars – the results were lovely – flowers; bark for a tree; seeds to plant for the future; pebbles for the Earth; hearts to represent love – many precious items.
