Oak class had an amazing experience at Williams F1 recently.
The children were able to walk through the history of the Williams Racing Team and the evolution of F1 by viewing a range of cars that had been raced around the world. The value of the cars combined was over 300 million dollars! One of the highlights for the children was the eSports lounge. Here, the children raced against each other across a number of tracks. There was a lot of excitement during the races with some children 'accidentally' crashing into another car!
After the children had their lunch, they were challenged to prepare for an F1 race by catching a tennis ball using their periphery vision - a really good challenge. This is an activity that many of the current F1 drivers do before racing.
In the afternoon session, children were put into groups and challenged to create a nose cone using a range of resources and an imaginary budget of £100,000. Each group then presented their final design and explained their thought process to the class.
A fantastic school trip - many thanks to Williams for providing this opportunity.
