Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

Oak class had a fantastic day trip to London to see the Houses of Parliament. Travelling through London gave the children an opportunity to see many famous landmarks e.g. Downing Street, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, The Cenotaph and Big Ben.

After having lunch outside the Houses of Parliament, we were shown inside. On our tour, the children walked through the House of Commons and House of Lords as well as enter Westminster Hall, where the Queen’s coffin lay a couple of years ago. We also went into The Robing Room, a room never seen on TV before. During our tour, the children were able to see paintings and statues of former Kings and Queens on the wall and the Magna Carta. Pictures are forbidden in many areas so hopefully the children can share with you what it was like to walk through Parliament. Their knowledge impressed both the tour guides and adults on the trip.

The children were excellent throughout the trip and brilliant role models for the school. A fun-filled, engaging day – even with the extensive traffic around London.
