A challenging but incredibly rewarding day.
As you now know, we were greeted by an unexpected fire alarm around 11pm last night. All the children were fast asleep when the false alarm sounded. The children were incredibly brave and responded in a way that would have made you proud. They are a credit to themselves and the school. It did take a few a bit of time to settle but all did manage some sleep. It has made some of the children quite tired today and staff have been supporting lots of children with their emotions so that they enjoy their last full day at Woodlands.
2 of the groups were on site today for the high ropes/climbing wall/zip wire day. The other group were caving.
Those that stayed on site with me and Mrs LeFebvre really pushed themselves. Even though some children were anxious and worried, they all had a go at what they could do, tried their best and set their own goals which was lovely to see. Loads of children managed to climb to the top of the climbing wall, or travel all the way across the high wires or go down the zip wire. Some even did all three! Both groups were really supportive of one another and encouraged those that were finding it tricky.
The caving group had an amazing day although the previous night's fire alarm had made an impact - 8 out of the 10 children fell asleep on the mini-bus on the way to the cave! Many children passionately spoke to me before dinner about the death slide and the amount of fun they had. Although it was cold and a bit wet, the children really pushed themselves and had a great time. There are lots of photos which show you how much fun the children had.
Just a few other things to share:
