Buckland

Church of England Primary School

Small school, big hearts. Wise, Responsible and Kind like the Good Samaritan.

The children have shown amazing courage today. Despite the weather being cold, they have really tried their best to push themselves.

My group went caving. With loads of layers on, we went on the mini-bus to Porth Yr Ogof. Here, the children navigated around the cave with the aid of Rod and myself. At times, they needed to duck, slide, crawl and wiggle around the cave but they did amazingly well. Lots of encouragement on show with children supporting each other, especially those that were a little nervous. In the cave we went through muddy passage, the creek, keyhole passage, tradesman entrance and the letterbox. We even went fishing in the cave and went down a slide! The children also experienced true darkness by switching their torch lights off for a short period of time too.

The other two groups stayed on site and attempted the climbing wall, high ropes and zip wire. Just like yesterday’s group, they all had a go at what they could do, tried their best and set their own goals which was lovely to see. They were really supportive of one another and encouraged those that were finding it tricky. Some children really overcome their fears. The term ‘proper bravery’ was mentioned by the staff.
